Adrianne Greenbaum & FleytMuzik in honor of Milton Frant and the Dubiecko Klezmorim.
FleytMuzik is a traditional klezmer ensemble that moves the soul, delights the spirit, and amazes the listener with unmatched technical prowess and soulful musicianship. For one magical musical evening, the FleytMuzik ensemble will perform selections from the Dubiecko Klezmorim, founded back in Poland by the grandfather of HPCT-CAE member Milton Frant. Conducted by Abraham Leib Frand, known as Leibish the Musician, the Dubiecko Klezmorim featured his children on the violin, viola, drums, flute, and bass. They were hired for weddings, festivals, circuses, and Purim plays in Dubiecko and its surrounding villages.
The Dubiecko repertoire has been brought back to life by Adrianne Greenbaum, founder and leader of FleytMuzik. Responding to an appeal by Milton Frant’s daughter, she transcribed 60 pages of hand-notated music, some of it from well before World War I. Since then, the repertoire has been performed at many important venues, including in Dubiecko itself for the rededication of a Jewish memorial. The evening will also include an interlude of badkhones, Yiddish folk poetry for which the Klezmorim were well known.
Adrianne Greenbaum is a nationally acclaimed klezmer and classical flutist. She has been on the faculties of KlezKamp, KlezKanada, and Boxwood, and was a premier participant with FleytMuzik at the Vienna KlezMore Festival. She will perform here with the internationally acclaimed Jake Shulman-Ment (fiddle), Peter Rushefsky (cimbalom), Brian Glassman (string bass) and Michael Alpert (percussion).
Fleytmuzik will be joined by local klezmorim Tsu Fil Duvids (“Too Many Davids”) to celebrate Hanukkah and to participate in the Jewish dancing after the concert.

Frant-Brooks, daughter of Milton Frant, will give a personal account of her efforts to bring the sounds of her great-grandfather’s band, the Dubiecko Klezmorim, back to life in Dubiecko, Poland, the very place where the band was silenced by the Nazis in the Shoah.
