The Arline and Henry Schwartzman Library offers resources in various formats that promote Jewish literacy and a full Jewish life. It is a place where anyone can sit and read, research, and cultivate and strengthen their Jewish identity.
Our collection includes more than 1,300 books in adult and juvenile fiction, non-fiction, and biography, plus DVDs and periodicals. It is arranged according to the Weine Classification System for Small Jewish Libraries, and you can find the Weine number in the online catalog in the “Comments” section (Style B or C in the catalog layout). Adult fiction is shelved in alphabetical order by author’s last name; biographies are shelved in alphabetical order by the subject’s last name.
Juvenile books are shelved according to topic and are color-coded.
You can search the collection here.
Temple members may check out all books, except those marked Reference, for up to one month.
Instructions on how to use our Shabbat-friendly circulation system are located on the Circulation table.
The Library is open whenever the building is open except when a class is meeting in the room.
Support the Library
Our collection grows only through your support, and donations to our library fund help us purchase books, subscriptions, and audiovisual materials. They also provide you a lasting way to:
- Honor, thank, or remember someone
- Commemorate a special occasion
- Make a gift that will benefit the Temple community
We appreciate every donation regardless of the amount, and for donations of $18 or more, we are happy to place a bookplate in newly purchased material with your name and the name of person or event you are honoring.
Please make a donation to the library fund. To sponsor a subscription to a Jewish periodical or to make a book donation, please contact the Temple office.
